OUR REGION - OUR HISTORY - OUR VINEYARD
YARRA VALLEY
The first Victorian grapes were planted in the
Yarra Valley in 1838, making it the oldest wine region in Victoria. Less than an hour’s drive from the Melbourne CBD and made up of over 3,600 hectares under vine, the Yarra Valley’s climate, soil and local creatives work to strengthen the bond between wine and the land it originates from.
1995 - Successful Growth
In 1995, Linda & John Gilson, two viticulturists at the time, took over the unique terrior. 10 total acres Henkell vineyard was planted out to Chardonnay with the remainder made up of Pinot Noir. Two viticulturists lived and worked
on site, every aspect of the farming of the site was completed by Linda and John, with attention to detail being extremely important to grow high quality wine grapes efficiently and with limited environmental impact.
